CATSA on LinkedIn
The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), established in 2002, is a Crown corporation responsible for:
- Pre-board screening – the screening of passengers, their carry-on baggage and their personal belongings;
- Hold-baggage screening – the screening of checked baggage;
- Non-passenger screening – the screening of non-passengers on a random basis; and
- Restricted Area Identity Card – the administration of access control to airport restricted areas through biometric identifiers.
CATSA’s LinkedIn account is another means of interacting with the organization. We look forward to sharing career opportunities and exciting news about the organization. We also encourage you to visit to our website for more detailed information.
CATSA’s LinkedIn account is primarily used for posting information available on our website related to CATSA, including current recruitment efforts and corporate news.
Links to other websites
CATSA may post links to websites that are not the CATSA website or a Government of Canada website. These links are provided solely for the convenience of the users. CATSA is not responsible for the accuracy, currency or reliability of the content. CATSA is not responsible for the information found through these links, nor does it endorse the sites and their content.
The number of posts will vary. Posts will be made during regular business hours, Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm EST/EDT.
Because LinkedIn servers are managed by a third party, CATSA LinkedIn updates are also subject to downtime that may be out of CATSA‘s control. As such, we accept no responsibility for the LinkedIn network becoming unresponsive or unavailable.
CATSA’s LinkedIn account is open to the public, so anyone with Internet access can view the content posted. LinkedIn users may follow the CATSA LinkedIn account. In doing so, they allow CATSA posts and updates to appear in their LinkedIn feed.
We may occasionally share information posted by other organizations that we think is valuable to our followers. This may include articles, cross-links, research findings, statistics, and events.
Sharing should not be interpreted as an endorsement of the originator or of any organization, product, or service that such sharing may refer to, nor should it be taken as an indication of a shift in CATSA’s current official position.
Following and unfollowing
At this time, CATSA will follow other Government of Canada institutions and industry organizations that we believe are relevant to the mandate of our work – specifically, security screening in an airport. This could include following the LinkedIn accounts of industry stakeholders, associations and other governmental agencies.
The appearance of a LinkedIn user as a follower of the CATSA account does not imply endorsement, nor does CATSA following any particular user.
Comments and direct messages
Feedback and interactions are encouraged. All comments and direct messages will be read and any emerging themes or helpful suggestions will be passed to the relevant CATSA contact. While we are not able to reply to all messages, they will be reviewed individually and responded to when appropriate.
If a comment or question is of significant business value and/or requires a detailed response, we may distribute the information through other internal or external channels such as briefing material, our website or other social media accounts. We will watch for emerging themes and helpful suggestions and look forward to this potential interaction
Media is asked to send questions to CATSA’s spokesperson (613-998-4527 or email@example.com). We will not respond to media questions on LinkedIn.
CATSA cannot engage in partisan politics or answer questions that contravene the Commenting Policy.
As a third-party service provider, LinkedIn is not bound by Government of Canada policies for web accessibility.
The Government of Canada is committed to achieving a high standard of accessibility and is working to address issues with third-party service provider platforms.
Information posted by CATSA is subject to the Copyright Act of Canada. For more information, see the Important Notices page on the CATSA website.
CATSA respects Canada’s Official Languages Act and, as such, is committed to ensuring information is available in both French and English, of equal quality. CATSA’s posts are available in both official languages.
Through the very nature of the social media forum, content may vary between English and French. Any post or sharing from CATSA will be made in both official languages when it concerns both English and French communities. Responses to direct messages and comments will be made in the official language of origin.
Users should be aware that some links direct users to the sites of organizations or other entities that are not subject to the Official Languages Act. These sources may be only available in the language in which they are written.
Other CATSA staff or representatives posting
Some CATSA staff or CATSA representatives, including screening officers, post under their own names or pseudonyms. Despite their professional affiliation with CATSA, their posts do not represent the official position of CATSA, and should be considered the product of each individual as a private citizen.
CATSA’s LinkedIn account is not a Government of Canada website. Users of LinkedIn are encouraged to read LinkedIn’s Privacy & Terms.
