Why Would a Bag Be Inspected?
To protect you and your fellow passengers, and in accordance with Canadian security regulations, the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) is required to inspect checked baggage. As part of this screening process, some checked bags are opened and searched for non-permitted items. At the completion of the inspection process, permitted items are returned to the bag and a Notification of Checked Baggage card is placed in the closed luggage to alert its owner to the additional security screening that has taken place.
